A dive that is a personal favorite, the Pinthis was a 206 foot long coastal tanker with a beam of just over 35 feet. She burst into flames and sank six miles east of Scituate, MA on June 10th, 1930, after being rammed by the liner Fairfax. 47 passengers and crew members from the two ships lost their lives in the tragic accident. Today, the remains of the Pinthis rests in about 100 feet of water at: 42-09.362N x 070-33.660W. And yes, those are "good numbers". Visibility is typically as you see in these photos. |
